What a grading actually is
A grading is a test, not a ceremony. The student performs the form for their grade, demonstrates the required kicks and blocks, and is assessed in front of instructors alongside everyone else testing that day.
A student is normally only entered once their instructor believes they are ready. That is why the belt means something when it is finally tied on.
